CUFI (Christians United  For Israel) Summit
7-19-11, Washington D.C. – the premier pro-Israel event of the year

Pastor John Hagee, Founder of CUFI

This past Tuesday, July 19, having wished I could have attended this Summit, I had forgotten this day was the date of the keynote banquet where Pastor John Hagee and Glenn Beck were to give important pro-Israel speeches. But in my usual wakefulness around 2:15 a.m. on July 20, I know it was God who led me to notice what was airing on Daystar TV – it was a replay of the previous evening’s event! I was awake enough to watch the last 2 hours of it and was powerfully moved and inspired! This was the 6th annual ‘Night to Honor Israel’ pioneered by Pastor John Hagee, and this year the keynote speaker was the newly empassioned for Israel, Glenn Beck, a well known, yet humble man of integrity, who loves the U.S. and Israel, and feels called to exhort us to return to and stand up for God, freedom, truth, honor and courage in both countries. I will blog another day about his upcoming ‘Restoring Courage’ event in Jerusalem on August 24, 2011 at the south wall of the Temple Mount.

CUFI is the largest pro-Israel organization in the United States and one of the leading Christian grassroots movements in the world.

“You will arise and have compassion on Zion, for it is time to show favor to her; the appointed time has come.”Pslam 102:13

Among the attendees, there were over 500 college students;  CUFI on Campus is an organization to change the thinking on campuses about Israel; to combat the anti-Israel demonstrations growing in number. CUFI On Campus staff educate and assist students in developing CUFI On Campus chapters at both secular and Christian universities across the nation.

U.S. Ambassador to Israel Michael Oren

U.S. Ambassador to Israel, Michael Oren: He spoke about anti Israel demonstrations on college campuses, reminding us that “today’s college students are tomorrow’s political leaders.”  Ambassador Oren, moved by the fervent support of Israel, calls CUFI members “righteous gentiles”. He compared the CUFI’s accomplishments with the phenomenon of righteous gentiles such as Major-General Orde Charles Wingate, British Army officer and creator of special Jewish military units in British mandated Palestine in the 1930s and in World War II. (I would include Corrie Ten  Boom).

Ambassador Oren said that as a devoutly religious Christian, Wingate became an ardent supporter of Zionism, seeing it as his religious duty to help the Jewish community in Palestine form an independent Jewish state. For more on his message click here:

Pastor Hagee: He spoke on the subject Truth- Torah or lies; he proclaimed that Jerusalem has belonged to the Jews since 3000 years ago when King David purchased it; God promised it to his chosen people for an everlasting covenant. Pastor Hagee said “Israel is not a vassal state of the U.S. that the president can dictate who can and cannot build in East Jerusalem. He said “The Jewish people are not occupying the land of Israel; they OWN the land of Israel.” Click this link for more of Hagee’s speech:

Glenn Beck: his speech at #CUFIDC was profoundly moving. Having recently visited Auschwitz, a life changing experience for him and his family, he quoted from our Declaration of Independence about the  “. . inalienable rights of humanity.”  Other quotes from his talk were: “We don’t have to become Super Human, We just have to remain Human.” and “If the world accepts that an evil regime has a right to kill the Jews, count me a Jew and take me first” and “ Israel has the right to exist, and not only to exist but to exist as the Jewish state”.
