UP TO JERUSALEM! (with 2 songs & video)

A major high point in my life was when I first saw, from the window of a bus, the golden city of God, the center of the world. It was a dream come true and it has changed me forever. To think that the city God chose for His dwelling place was right there in front of me was a thrill beyond measure! God loves Jerusalem more than any other place on earth. “But now I have chosen Jerusalem for my Name to be there, and I have chosen David to rule my people Israel.” (2 Chron. 6:6) The city had no particular qualities that make a city great – located off the main trade route, having no great water source, only the Gihon Spring, not an important strategic location.. . But it was the dwelling place of God – He chose it and He made it great. All the major events in the Bible occurred in Jerusalem, starting with Abraham’s almost sacrifice of Isaac on Mount Moriah, all the way to the crucifixion of Yeshua (Jesus) ha mashiach (the anointed one– Christ) and His resurrection. This is also where Jesus will return. Satan has done everything he could throughout the ages to destroy the Jewish people and stand against the nation of Israel, and he wants to divide Jerusalem. But God promised this land to the Jewish people – not the Christians or the Muslims. “Behold, I will make Jerusalem a cup of trembling unto all the people round about, when they shall be in the siege both against Judah and against Jerusalem. And in that day will I make Jerusalem a burdensome stone for all people: all that burden themselves with it shall be cut in pieces, though all the people of the earth be gathered together against it” (Zech. 12:2-3)

Old City

No wonder Jerusalem continues to be at the center of the struggle for peace in the Middle East. God loves her and satan hates her since this city was chosen to play a central role in God’s plan for the world. God is building up Jerusalem once again. It is thriving and bustling and growing and expanding. The Old City is still there – it is comprised of the Jewish Quarter, the Christian Quarter, the Armenian Quarter and the Arab Quarter.

New City

But all around it is the New City, modern and up to date by all the highest standards. I got to experience both when I was there. The Lord is building up Jerusalem. Please click on that link to hear a wonderful song about what He is doing. It starts off slow but then becomes lively! For centuries of exile, Jerusalem remained alive in the hearts of Jewish people everywhere as a focal point of Jewish history, the symbol of ancient glory, spiritual fulfillment and modern renewal. When they regained control of the city in 1967 (the 6 Day War), it was truly a moment of thrilling fulfillment of prophecy.

David said this: “If I forget you, O Jerusalem, may my right hand forget her skill. May my tongue cling to the roof of my mouth if I do not remember you, if I do not exalt Jerusalem above my chief joy” (Psalms 137:5-6)

The name Jerusalem means ‘city of peace’ (ir shalom). The Hebrew pronunciation is Yerushalayim – this has a plural ending, so it is a city of double peace! The name of Jerusalem is mentioned 881 times in the Bible (667 in the Jewish Scriptures – Old Testament, and 144 in the New Testament) – but not once in the Koran.

“Pray for the peace of Jerusalem. May they prosper who love you. May peace be within your walls, and prosperity within your palaces. For the sake of my brothers and my friends, I will now say, ‘May peace be within you’. For the sake of the house of the LORD our God I will seek your good” (Psalms 122: 6-9).

“Now it will come about that in the last days the mountain of the house of the LORD will be established as the chief of the mountains, and will be raised above the hills; and all the nations will stream to it. And many peoples will come and say, ‘Come let us go up (another song – please click and listen) to the mountain of the LORD, to the house of the God of Jacob; that He may teach us concerning His ways and that we may walk in His paths.’ For the law will go forth from Zion and the word of the LORD from Jerusalem and He will judge between the nations, and will render decisions for many peoples;  and they will hammer their swords into plowshares and their spears into pruning hooks nation will not lift up sword against nation, and never again will they learn war.” (Isaiah 2:2-4)

Eastern (Golden) Gate

There are nine gates to the Old City of Jerusalem. The most famous is the Eastern Gate (or Golden Gate). Christians believe Jesus came through this gate on a donkey on the original ‘Palm Sunday’. In AD 1541 the Ottoman Turks sealed it up because they had heard that the Jews expected their Messiah to enter through that gate. Both Jews and Christians agree that when Messiah appears, He will enter through this gate to the Temple Mount. It faces the Mount of Olives where the Messiah will appear. 1. Satan has deceived the whole world Rev 12:9 until the heel of time Gen 3:15 when the woman of Rev 12:5, 13 delivers the true word to the world John 1:1. Now we can know our true God.

  2. Wonderful music, enjoyed it immensely; the video at the end was majestic. Everything the Word of God declares, shall come to pass. We are the generation that is seeing the fulfillment of prophecy almost on a daily basis, how blessed we are; and in these dire times, it is our duty to pray for the peace of Jerusalem, and also for the protection of God’s people, and to give them our support.

  3. We truly are the generation that shall see these things come to pass. Recently, Jack VanImpe (DAYSTAR, Fri 10 p.m. and Mon 10 a.m.) was teaching on the length of a generation, often thought to be either 40 years or 70 years. He explained that the Bible says there were 14 generations from Adam to Noah, 14 generations between Noah and Messiah, and 14 generations from Messiah to His return (second coming). He indicated that the Bible makes clear that the last generation couldn’t begin until Old Jerusalem was in control of the Jewish people, which only happened after the 6-Day War (1967).

Dividing the number of years between Adam and Noah by 14, “a generation” is equal to 52 years. Dividing the number of years from Noah to Messiah (His death, I believe) by 14, was also 52 years. Thus using 52 years as the length of the last generation and adding it to 1967 = 2019 (not setting dates or hours here).

A seven year Tribulation at the end of this time might take into consideration a Rapture sometime during this time period, but in any case, subtracting 7 years from 2019 would be 2012. There may be something to the rampant speculation that the year 2012 could be monumental for the world. With this information, anyone can do the math. We are, no doubt, very close. All Praise to our Messiah- and Maranatha!
