SIGNS OF THE TIMES

Haitian earthquake

Jesus warned that just prior to his return, cataclysmic upheavals would take place in the world that would defy human explanation and strike fear into the hearts of men. In just the last few weeks, our eyes have witnessed a rampaging fire in the Carmel heights of Israel, snowstorms in Europe and the USA never witnessed before, earthquakes worldwide, rainstorms and flooding in Australia on a scale that boggles the mind, and the unexplained deaths of thousands upon thousands of fish and birds in North and South America.

When one adds to this picture the corruption in governments, the wholesale murder of Christians throughout the muslim world, plus the rise of anti-semitism and the hatred of Israel in all international spheres, then the words of Jesus become more important and most worthy of our careful consideration. No wonder He said that we are to watch and pray and, more notably still, to be ready for His sudden appearing.

Nations buckling under huge mountains of debt, coupled with nuclear proliferation, only add to the dangers of an unstable global situation, not to mention the wars that continue to rage in Iraq and Afghanistan. Anxiety levels are increasing everywhere. World leaders are void of real answers and their political theories have proven to be bankrupt. No wonder they are now openly calling for a one-world government, a new global currency and human controls never imagined or seen before. As things get worse the masses, longing for safety, will join this call, thinking that their only way out of the present distress will be totalitarianism with its promise of peace and order. Now, brothers and sisters, about times and dates we do not need to write to you, for you know very well that the day of the Lord will come like a thief in the night. While people are saying, “Peace and safety,” destruction will come on them suddenly, as labor pains on a pregnant woman, and they will not escape.” (I Thessalonians 5:1-3)

Freedom as we know it could become a thing of the past and a brave new world order could arise, totally transforming the present social, political and economic order. All of this would be hailed as progress and another step forward in humankind’s ‘evolutionary development’.

Naturally, leadership over this new globalist regime would have to be given to a dynamic, benevolent and ‘wise’ leader such as the world has never seen but certainly has longed for. Absolute obedience would be given to him by universal decree, and those who failed to submit would be removed from society under the charge of being enemies of the global order. (This is referring to the antichrist forewarned about in the Bible). Celebrations would abound and a new one-world religious system would be established. The Bible, once the world’s most loved and read book, would be banned!

With every passing day, this picture seems to be emerging with frightening clarity, and what was once only written about by ‘whistleblowers’ is now openly being stated and published without shame. Economic pressure, natural upheavals, wars, and nuclear threats coupled with fear and anxiety have enabled the globalists to ‘show their hand’ with increasing brazenness.

Meanwhile, the followers of Jesus are being slaughtered everywhere across the Middle East and North Africa, and are being mocked in nations that once called themselves Christian. It turns out that faith in Jesus is now a problem for much of the world!

Flooding in Australia

Nevertheless, is it not amazing that His words of warning in Matthew 24 have been fulfilled with pinpoint accuracy? He is hated only because He tells the truth and thereby unmasks the wickedness of the human heart. He Himself declared that His own people would be hated by all men because they bear God’s glorious Name. What did He do to these nations to arouse such hatred and rejection? The answer is simple – He loved them and gave His life for them!

In the end the ‘signs of the times’ will prove to be the only road map worth following. The coming new world order will only bring humankind closer to utter destruction. “Indeed, Jesus said, ‘If those days had not been cut short, no one would survive, but for the sake of the elect those days will be shortened. At that time if anyone says to you, ‘Look, here is the Messiah!’ or, ‘There he is!’ do not believe it. For false messiahs and false prophets will appear and perform great signs and wonders to deceive, if possible, even the elect. See, I have told you ahead of time.’” (Matthew 24:22-25)

  1. Have you noticed, those things prophesied are unfolding daily at such a pace never witnessed? …maybe just me…

  2. from Karen Buck:
Yes, that article is right on. We are heading towards globalism and a new world order. It was mind boggling went I went to work Thursday and there was a huge picture of a globe on the wall facing you when you went down a stairway. Beside the globe was a picture of a man looking at a globe. The signs are here everywhere. We need to see souls saved as never before, before the return of Jesus. Thank you for the article.

  3. Never before has it ever been so evident, that we are living in the last days, the proof is all around us; we hear it daily on our newscasts. Are we really listening ???

  4. Thank you Elena! See below:

Zechariah 14 (New International Version, ©2010)

    Zechariah 14
    The LORD Comes and Reigns
1 A day of the LORD is coming, Jerusalem, when your possessions will be plundered and divided up within your very walls.
2 I will gather all the nations to Jerusalem to fight against it; the city will be captured, the houses ransacked, and the women raped. Half of the city will go into exile, but the rest of the people will not be taken from the city. 3 Then the LORD will go out and fight against those nations, as he fights on a day of battle. 4 On that day his feet will stand on the Mount of Olives, east of Jerusalem, and the Mount of Olives will be split in two from east to west, forming a great valley, with half of the mountain moving north and half moving south. 5 You will flee by my mountain valley, for it will extend to Azel. You will flee as you fled from the earthquake[a] in the days of Uzziah king of Judah. Then the LORD my God will come, and all the holy ones with him.

6 On that day there will be neither sunlight nor cold, frosty darkness.

7 It will be a unique day—a day known only to the LORD—with no distinction between day and night. When evening comes, there will be light.

8 On that day living water will flow out from Jerusalem, half of it east to the Dead Sea and half of it west to the Mediterranean Sea, in summer and in winter.

9 The LORD will be king over the whole earth. On that day there will be one LORD, and his name the only name.

10 The whole land, from Geba to Rimmon, south of Jerusalem, will become like the Arabah. But Jerusalem will be raised up high from the Benjamin Gate to the site of the First Gate, to the Corner Gate, and from the Tower of Hananel to the royal winepresses, and will remain in its place. 11 It will be inhabited; never again will it be destroyed. Jerusalem will be secure.

12 This is the plague with which the LORD will strike all the nations that fought against Jerusalem: Their flesh will rot while they are still standing on their feet, their eyes will rot in their sockets, and their tongues will rot in their mouths. 13 On that day people will be stricken by the LORD with great panic. They will seize each other by the hand and attack one another. 14 Judah too will fight at Jerusalem. The wealth of all the surrounding nations will be collected—great quantities of gold and silver and clothing. 15 A similar plague will strike the horses and mules, the camels and donkeys, and all the animals in those camps.

16 Then the survivors from all the nations that have attacked Jerusalem will go up year after year to worship the King, the LORD Almighty, and to celebrate the Festival of Tabernacles. 17 If any of the peoples of the earth do not go up to Jerusalem to worship the King, the LORD Almighty, they will have no rain. 18 If the Egyptian people do not go up and take part, they will have no rain. The LORD[b] will bring on them the plague he inflicts on the nations that do not go up to celebrate the Festival of Tabernacles. 19 This will be the punishment of Egypt and the punishment of all the nations that do not go up to celebrate the Festival of Tabernacles.

20 On that day HOLY TO THE LORD will be inscribed on the bells of the horses, and the cooking pots in the LORD’s house will be like the sacred bowls in front of the altar. 21 Every pot in Jerusalem and Judah will be holy to the LORD Almighty, and all who come to sacrifice will take some of the pots and cook in them. And on that day there will no longer be a Canaanite[c] in the house of the LORD Almighty.

    Footnotes:
Zechariah 14:5 Or My mountain valley will be blocked and will extend to Azel. It will be blocked as it was blocked because of the earthquake
Zechariah 14:18 Or part, then the LORD
    Zechariah 14:21 Or merchant
